Thermal monitoring of a concrete bridge in London, UK

چکیده
During bridge design and assessment, effects of thermal actions are accounted for by means a uniform temperature variation difference components. The variations cause changes in length width the structure, whereas components primarily curvatures internal stresses. these strains on superstructure depend structure's articulation restraint. Design profiles used to model vary between codes, which can have significant effect induced curvatures. Thermal data findings obtained from comprehensive, year-long monitoring programme Waterloo Bridge London examined, allows comparison various models with performance data. BS EN 1991-1-5 is supplemented Aashto New Zealand codes. measured generally fell within stipulated limits 1991-1-5; however, at low temperatures minimum deck may be lower than relationship provided. resultant moments implied vertical profiles: significantly exceed worst-case values predicted UK model; different sections; do not model.

متن کاملDesign and implementation of a monitoring system applied to a long-span prestressed concrete bridge
Currently long-term monitoring systems are mandatory in major civil engineering structures like bridges, tunnels and dams. Generally, they monitor a set of physical, chemical and mechanical parameters in critical sections of the structure by incorporating appropriated sensors. The set of collected data demonstrates great potential in the prevention of damage and contributes to a more efficient ...
